Pastoral Care
Mission Statement
Through faith and a virtuous life—together with love and service—we lead one another to Jesus and into deeper communion with each other, in charity.
About the Ministry
At Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Pastoral Care is an extension of our faith in action. We believe that no one should feel forgotten or alone—especially during times of illness, grief, or isolation.
Our Pastoral Care Ministers offer spiritual support and a comforting presence to those who are sick, homebound, grieving, or living in long-term care residences. Through simple acts of care—like conversation, prayer, and the sharing of the Eucharist—we bring our parish family to those who cannot be physically present with us.
What We Do
- Home & Facility Visits
We bring the Eucharist to parishioners who are housebound or living in retirement residences. Visits are typically once a week or bi-weekly, and always done with sensitivity and respect.
- Support in Times of Loss
We accompany those who are grieving with compassion, whether through prayerful presence or practical help.
- Community Outreach
We’re working to expand our reach—visiting shut-ins in nearby apartment buildings and supporting long-term care facilities in our area.
- Future Plans: A 55+ Social Circle
We’re exploring the idea of launching a welcoming social group for adults aged 55 and up—a place to build friendships, share life, and stay connected.
We Need You
This ministry depends on the caring hearts of parish volunteers. If you feel called to help—whether it’s through pastoral visits, Eucharistic ministry, or helping organize a social group—we’d love to connect with you.
What to Expect as a Volunteer:
Flexible commitment:typically 1 hour weekly or bi-weekly
- Visits done in pairs for support and safety
- Full training provided—no experience needed
- Deeply meaningful, person-to-person ministry
