🌿 Bereavement Support Ministry

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish – Ottawa

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

We can direct you to a bereavement support group at another parish.

What is a bereavement group?

A Place for Comfort, Connection, and Healing

Grief is a journey that no one should walk alone. At Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, we understand that after the funeral, life continues—but it often looks and feels very different. Whether you’ve recently lost someone close or have been carrying grief quietly for years, your heart matters here.

Hope on the Horizon

We are prayerfully exploring the creation of a Bereavement Support Group—a gentle space for those who are grieving to come together in faith, friendship, and healing. This ministry would offer:

  • A welcoming, non-judgmental environment
  • Shared stories, prayer, and reflective discussion
  • Guided support rooted in Catholic faith and hope
  • A chance to walk alongside others who understand

You Are Not Alone

Every grief story is unique. Whether your loss was recent or long ago, whether you feel numb or overwhelmed—there is grace in simply showing up, and healing in being heard.

As we continue discerning how to shape this ministry, we invite anyone interested—whether as a participant or future volunteer—to let us know.

“Grief shared is grief softened. Hope shared is hope multiplied.”

We’re looking forward to growing a space of compassion and renewal, together.
